Our First Placement

Yesterday at 1:04pm our social worker called to tell us that after a year of waiting… we were finally licensed foster parents!

I was so excited to hear the news and knew that we needed to jump back into preparing for our first placement. After so many months of “being ready” we had slacked off a bit and this call was the motivation we needed.

What came shortly after was insane…
At 3:48pm, I received a call from what I recognized to be a “DCFS number”, it was my first placement call! I couldn’t believe it! The lady went on to give me details about a 10 day old baby girl that needed to be released from the hospital. I can’t even describe the emotions and thoughts running threw me! I couldn’t say yes without talking to Bobby but trying to get the words out was a little hard. I literally had a nervous laugh attack on the phone with him! I asked him what he thought and of course he said “This is what we signed up for. Call them back. Let’s do this.” So after a few back and forths with the social worker, we accepted the placement at 4:54pm.

Today I picked up a beautiful 10 day old baby girl from the hospital. I can’t began to describe the rollercoaster of emotions I have felt. As soon as I laid eyes on her I knew I was meant to be her comfort and just love on her. The universe brought us together and I can’t wait to provide her with my very best. Not only does she have me, but like they say “it takes a village” and my village has already stepped up for her in a way I didn’t even imagine and I couldn’t be more grateful. 💓

This is Baby V & she’ll be my littlest lamb for as long as she needs to be.
